Kansas City Wedding Video – Why a Second Shooter is so Important
Now that you have planned the most amazing wedding day, we are ready to document everything from the joyous moments getting ready to the details of the flowers, décor and cake. It’s all part of your Kansas City Wedding Video!
At some point, you might be wondering how important a second shooter is as you consider the different wedding film packages.
As a professional wedding videographer, I want to document all the important details, emotions and important moments of your best day ever. But what if some of these lovely moments are unfolding at the same time in different places? Rather than deciding which moment is more important to capture, I prefer knowing my second shooter is on the job.
I always prefer to have an assistant for shooting weddings which is a great help. Having a second shooter takes the service up another level and means more precious moments are captured.
Second Shooters are Essential
Here are some examples of when a second shooter is essential for your wedding video:
Getting ready, the second shooter can be with the groom and boys so I can stay with the bride. Also, the second shooter has time to document the ceremony space before guests arrive, which is especially important if you’ve invested in luxurious florals. There is usually a small window of time from when the venue staff finishes the ceremony set up and the guests arrive. That pristine shot of your venue without any people in it is always beautiful. This is right about the time the bride puts on her veil, and maybe her father will arrive and see her for the first time. How do you choose between those important moments? Getting a second shooter is an investment that is worth it.
When the ceremony begins with a single cinematographer, would you want to see the bride walking down the aisle or the groom’s tears of joy? With a second shooter, you don’t have to choose. We can capture both moments at the same time. Also, the iconic shot taken from behind as the bride walks down the aisle can be on film. If you have a long train and veil, this is a lovely shot too.
Capturing More Special Moments
It is special to have video footage of guests enjoying cocktail hour when you and the bridal party are away having photos and video taken. Remember, the drone shots need to be taken to showcase the venue and surroundings. These are just some of the situations that a second shooter is invaluable.
Also, I have time to get artistic shots when a second shooter is with me. Suppose I see the second shooter is documenting the couple getting ready to cut the cake. In that case, I can slow down and find my creative groove, which might show the flower girl peering up at the cake or shooting through the fairy lights from up high to get dreamy and romantic imagery.
Two Shooters = Better Footage
Finally, shooting for six or eight hours is physically and mentally hard work. Short breaks are energizing and get us ready to join you on the dance floor later in the evening.
